Preserving Beautiful Furniture. Creating Bespoke Interiors.
Threadful Things is a woman-owned upholstery and sewing workroom based in Austin, Texas, specializing in custom upholstery, bespoke slipcovers, pillows, window treatments, and handcrafted cushions. Every project is designed with intention, built with craftsmanship, and created to help beautiful furniture and quality textiles live longer.
Why Threadful Things Exists
Every year, millions of pounds of textiles and furniture are discarded—often because the fabric has worn out while the furniture beneath it remains beautifully built.

That’s where Threadful Things began.
Hi I’m Stephanie, I didn’t start this business simply because I enjoy sewing. I started it because I believe we should be doing better for our planet.
Too often, quality furniture is replaced instead of restored. Beautiful textiles become waste instead of being repurposed. Workrooms focus on production without considering the materials left behind or the life that still exists within a well-built piece of furniture.
Threadful Things was created to challenge that mindset.
As a one-woman workroom, every project that leaves my studio reflects my own hands, my own standards, and my commitment to creating pieces that are built thoughtfully not quickly.
I believe craftsmanship and sustainability should work together. Not as trends. As responsibility.
What We Believe
Craftsmanship deserves time.
Every seam, pattern placement, pleat, and finish contributes to how a piece looks, functions, and lasts.
Quality furniture deserves another life.
Many pieces don’t need replacing. They need thoughtful restoration, a new textile, or a custom solution that allows them to remain part of a home for years to come.
Sustainability begins with extending what already exists.
Reducing waste isn’t only about recycling. Sometimes the most sustainable choice is preserving what you already own.
Home textiles shape how a home feels.
Furniture, drapery, cushions, and textiles bring warmth, comfort, and personality to a space. They soften architecture, invite people to gather, and transform a house into a home.
Textiles are the threads that turn a house into a home.
Thoughtfully Crafted, Never Mass Produced

Every custom project begins with understanding how it will be used, not simply how it will look.
Whether I’m creating a tailored slipcover, restoring an heirloom chair, fabricating custom window treatments, or sewing decorative pillows, every decision, from fabric selection to pattern placement, is made intentionally.
Attention to detail isn’t an upgrade.
It’s the standard.
Every project receives the same care because every home, every client, and every piece of furniture is different.

A Trusted Workroom for Interior Designers & Homeowners
Threadful Things proudly collaborates with homeowners, interior designers, furniture collectors, artists, and creative professionals looking for handcrafted upholstery and custom soft furnishings.
My goal is show you why we should be your number one trusted workroom for bespoke soft furnishings. This is the studio where designers can confidently bring custom projects knowing they’ll receive thoughtful craftsmanship, clear communication, and careful attention to detail.
As the studio grows, I also envision offering a curated collection of one-of-a-kind furnishings and handcrafted home goods available exclusively through Threadful Things.
Whether we’re collaborating on a single custom pillow or furnishing an entire space, every project is treated with the same level of care.
Designer’s
Threadful Things serves as a dedicated soft-goods workroom for designers seeking reliable craftsmanship, clear communication, and careful execution of custom concepts.
I collaborate with designers on:
- Custom upholstery and slipcover fabrication
- Fabric recommendations and material considerations
- COM approval
- Yardage requirements and project specifications
- Detailed finishes that affect the engineering
- Unique or challenging furniture pieces
Understanding that every design project has its own standards and timeline, I work closely with trade partners to ensure each piece aligns with the overall vision of the space.
Whether you need support bringing a complex concept to life or a trusted fabrication partner for custom furnishings, Threadful Things provides the craftsmanship and attention to detail required for exceptional results.
Homeowner’s
Custom furnishings should feel approachable not overwhelming.
You do not need to know industry terminology or have every design decision figured out before beginning a project. I guide homeowners through the process, from selecting appropriate fabrics and finishes to determining the best solution for their furniture and lifestyle.
Whether you are preserving a sentimental piece, refreshing a single room, or gradually creating a more intentional home, each project receives the same level of care and attention.
Together, we create furnishings that are functional, beautiful, and designed specifically for the way you live.
More Than A Workroom

I don’t measure success by how many projects leave my studio.
I measure it by how many pieces stay in someone’s home.
Every restored chair, every custom slipcover, every reimagined cushion, and every thoughtfully sewn textile represents one more opportunity to preserve craftsmanship, reduce waste, and create something made to last.
That’s the future I’m working toward.
Let’s Create Something Meaningful Together
Whether you’re preserving a family heirloom, refreshing a favorite sofa, collaborating on a designer project, or furnishing a new home, I’d love to help bring your vision to life.
When you choose Threadful Things, you’re choosing handcrafted quality, thoughtful design, and a workroom that values craftsmanship as much as you do.
Extending the Life of Furniture Through Sustainable Craftsmanship
before reupholstery

Textiles bring warmth, personality, and comfort into our homes. However, the way those materials are produced, used, and discarded has a lasting impact.
At Threadful Things, sustainability is not an added feature. It is part of the foundation behind every project.
As a small-batch upholstery and sewing workroom, I approach each project with the goal of creating beautiful furnishings while being mindful of the materials involved. From careful pattern placement to thoughtful cutting layouts, I work intentionally to maximize fabric use and reduce unnecessary waste.
When possible, I prioritize extending the life of the materials and furniture you already own. A quality frame, existing upholstery components, or usable textiles often have more life left in them than we realize.

Responsible Use of Materials
Custom work often creates remnants, and those materials still hold value.
Clients always have ownership of their leftover fabrics and materials. However, if you choose to donate usable remnants back to Threadful Things, they will be made into usable soft furnishings for others to enjoy.
Depending on their size and condition, fabric remnants can be transformed into:
- Decorative pillows
- Small accent pieces
- Trim details
- Textile samples
- Repair materials for future projects
Small pieces can still contribute to something meaningful.

A Mission Beyond the Studio
One of Threadful Things’ goals is to bring more awareness to the amount of textile waste created within the furniture and sewing industries.
I believe craftsmanship includes responsibility, not only in how a piece is created, but also in how materials are valued throughout their entire lifecycle.
By salvaging furniture frames, repurposing usable textiles, and creating pieces designed for longevity, Threadful Things works toward a more thoughtful approach to home furnishings.
Create pieces we choose to keep for years not replace after a season.
Have Fabric Remnants to Donate?
If you have usable upholstery fabric, textile remnants, or materials that could benefit future projects, I welcome the opportunity to give them a second purpose.
